Company Overview
Summary
Inphi Corporation, a high-speed analog semiconductor company, provides leading-edge components that operate at critical interfaces within cloud computing environments, addressing the bandwidth, capacity and power issues faced by data centers and 40G/100G networks. By leveraging its core competencies in advanced analog circuit design, signal integrity, power management, packaging and process technologies, Inphi has taken a leadership role in the markets it serves.
Markets and Products
Inphi's high-speed analog components enable cloud computing via server virtualization and broadband connectivity - markets requiring both high speed and excellent signal integrity. Inphi's more than 150 analog products provide critical interfaces within these markets, such as at the optical/electrical interface in broadband networks, and between CPUs and memory in servers and high-performance computers.
High-speed analog products for networking and communications applications
To help meet the burgeoning demands for broadband network traffic, Inphi develops high-speed analog components that are designed into routing, switching and optical transport networking equipment, providing critical connections between the optical and electrical systems. With their ultra-broadband capabilities and high signal integrity, Inphi's high-speed analog components enable telecommunications carriers to increase their network capacity by four to ten times.
Inphi's high-speed analog products include transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), modulator drivers, retimers, clock fanouts and frequency dividers for 40G/100G networks. Inphi is the leader in high-sensitivity TIAs used in network receivers and in large-output modulator drivers used in transmitters.
Memory interface products for server and storage applications
Inphi makes enterprise memory interface components that address the critical CPU/memory bottleneck in data center servers and high-performance computing systems. The company leads the market in supplying components for DDR2 and DDR3 memory modules, and has recently introduced the industry's first Isolation Memory Buffer. This component is driving the creation of a new class of memory modules - LRDIMMs, or load-reduced, dual-inline memory modules - capable of delivering upward of four times the memory capacity and nearly double the bandwidth. When server and workstation manufacturers adopt this new approach, they will be able support an increased number of memory modules, which themselves offer increased capacity and operate at higher speeds.
Test & measurement, military and aerospace products
With its leading-edge analog design, Inphi's best-in-class products for test and measurement enable the development of next-generation testers for emerging or new applications, such as 100G Ethernet and 100G Coherent Detection. In military markets, Inphi's products enable lower-cost and lower-power front ends. For these markets, Inphi's products include 10G and 50G logic gate retimers, fanout buffers, MUX, DEMUX and latched comparators.
Commercial Firsts
Inphi's innovative approaches have resulted in the company's products being first to market in a number of key areas, including:
- First DDR3 1600 memory component
- First memory buffer based on isolation memory buffer technology
- First JEDEC-compatible memory buffer
- First 25 GHz IC in plastic
- First 43 Gbps modulator driver
