Description
The 1349TA is an integrated transimpedance amplifier and automatic gain control amplifier (TIA / AGC). It is designed for optical links using electronic dispersion compensation techniques that require a linear receiver. The 1349TA supports data rates up to 11.3 Gbps and can amplify input currents between 20 μA and 2.5 mApp, with less than 5% harmonic distortion. Typical input sensitivity is -18 dBm with a BER of 10–12.
In AGC mode, the 1349TA gain is set internally through a peak detector. In external gain control mode, the voltage applied at a control pad determines the gain.
The 1349TA includes an integrated feedback circuit that controls the DC offset to maintain 50% eye crossing. In addition, the eye crossing can be externally adjusted through an offset pad, DCA.
The 1349TA has a small-signal bandwidth greater than 8 GHz and an output return loss of greater than 8 dB, up to 12 GHz.
The 1349TA is designed for use in butterfly receivers. It utilizes through-wafer vias, eliminating the parasitic inductance associated with ground wire bonds. It operates from a single 3.3 V power supply and is available in die form.
